GENERAL CATERING QUESTIONS

We cater for absolutely everything. No job is too big or too small.

No, this is included in our full service to you.

We ask for as much notice as possible. The more notice we have, the more time we have to make sure your event is fabulous.

Simply send an email to info@capitalcooking.co.uk to confirm your booking, along with a 50% deposit and your event will be booked.

Sure, no problem at all. We can arrange a tasting for you and one other person at our kitchen in South London, or we can come to you at your home or office. Your tasting session will cost £100 + VAT and will be deducted from your final invoice should you choose us as your caterers.

Yes you can. We work closely with some of the best catering equipment suppliers in and around London. Whatever look you have in mind, we are confident we can source exactly what you are looking for.

This depends on the type of event you are having. The following is a guide only and we will base our quotation on what we think is the most suitable waiter-to-guest ratio for your occasion. • We recommend one waiter per 25 guests for a drinks reception • We recommend one waiter per 10-15 guests for a drinks and canapé reception • We recommend having one waiter per eight guests for a sit-down, plated dinner • And you should allow one waiter per 20 guests for a buffet

We suggest 3-4 canapé bites per person. This is just the right quantity to tease your guest’s taste buds, but not ruin their appetites.

We recommend serving 6-8 savoury canapé bites and 1-2 sweet canapé bites per person. You don’t need to panic if your guests are eating everything in sight, we will slow down service so that the food lasts until the end of the party.

This depends on the type of crowd you are feeding; however, we recommend 2-3 savoury bowls and 1-2 dessert bowls per person. Often it works well to have dessert canapés after savoury bowl food.

No, most of the food is prepared in our kitchen in South London and we make sure we only have to do minimal cooking on site. If we do require any cooking facilities, we will always ask what equipment you have or quote to bring in additional equipment.

Of course! We are professionals and can work anywhere. We have been trained to work in the smallest of spaces.

This depends on when and where the food needs to be delivered to.

Of course, it’s only fair!

Absolutely. We have a great team of highly skilled bar staff who can mix cocktails until the early hours.

Do you charge a corkage fee?

Yes, you can. We charge £5 per person should you like to supply your own drinks.

Yes, however, we do need everything finalised five working days before the event date.

Where possible, we prefer to take payments by bank transfer.

All our products are labelled with allergen information. However, if you are unsure of anything please ask us and we will give you all the information you need. We take allergies extremely seriously and take no risks.

Yes, no problem. We can arrange a convenient time for you to collect your order.

Unfortunately not. We need final numbers 10 working days before the event date. Any reduction in guest numbers provided with fewer than 5 working days’ notice will not result in any alterations to the quoted price.

We ask for a 50% deposit to be paid upfront to confirm your booking. The balance will be invoiced after your event and will take into account any alterations/additions to your original quote.

Yes. All Capital Cooking staff are impeccably presented. Chefs are in chef whites and bar and waiting staff wear either a smart white or black shirt with an apron. If there is a particular look you would like, please discuss this with us when placing your booking.


WEDDING CATERING QUESTIONS

Most definitely. We usually arrange to meet at the venue when we are quoting and then again around a month before your Wedding day.

Menus must be confirmed one month before your wedding date and final numbers must be confirmed in writing 10 working days before the big day.

We work closely with some of the best suppliers in the Capital. So if you need any help organising absolutely anything to do with your wedding, we will try our best to help.

Yes. However, we do charge a small fee per person if you decide to have the cake as your dessert.

You can tailor your menu to whatever you would like. We will then quote for your chosen menu.

Yes. We ask for all dietary requirements to be given to us in writing 10 days before the event date.

No, not at all. You can have whatever you like. We can't promise we will definitely be able to provide it though, but please ask!

Definitely. They are a great way to give the wedding a more informal feel.

Yes. There will be a small charge for us to set them up, cut, serve and clear.

Not a problem. Just give us FULL instructions so nothing is left to chance.

We suggest leaving two hours for your drinks reception. This gives you time to mingle and also take the all-important time out for photographs.

It may sound a lot, but we would suggest allowing 2 to 3 glasses of wine per person. From our vast experience of catering for weddings, guests do tend to enjoy a few glasses!

The general rule of thumb is to allow half a bottle of wine per person. Whether your guests drink red or white wine will depend on many factors, such as the weather and your menu. Therefore, we usually suggest splitting the red and white equally.

Assuming that you are following the drinks reception with a meal, we would suggest serving 4-6 canapés per person. We find at weddings, guests are usually ravenous by the time of the reception.

This is totally up to you. However, we do find that they create some order.

It’s up to you, but it’s usual. We can provide something non-fussy for the suppliers, such as lasagne and brownies. Let us know what you would like and we can discuss the options.

On average around two hours, but it's best to allow a bit of extra time just in case.

These days anything goes! You can have speeches before the wedding breakfast or after — or even half before and half after.
